STILL WONDER FULL

Destructive independence and vibrant party decorations expose the complexity and spectacle of loss. Sifting through major life events that challenge her identity, Britt grapples with all the mess and beauty that being human brings. Her words anchor memories, weaving together a loose narrative you can’t quite grasp.

80 minutes. Premiered in 2018 at Base (SEA), 2018 Risk/Reward Festival (PDX), 2020 Velocity Dance Center (SEA) postponed due to COVID.

Supported by a 2016 Cornish Arts Incubator residency and a 2016 4Culture Arts Project grant.

Finish Line

Solo methodical pacing and small victories, constrained on a tiny raised platform.

10 minutes. Performed for the finish line of the 2015 NEPO 5K, a meandering, site-specific festival of outdoor performance (SEA).

Maybe it’s Quieter

Honest and humorous responses from over twenty-five women – ages spanning 14-74 – on their experiences with aging, are rearranged into a constantly shifting and repetitive dialogue. The performers work themselves up, pin each other against the wall and sing about “when I was young, I wanted this.”

20 minutes. Selected for The Bridge Project 2013 at Velocity Dance Center (SEA) and On the Boards’ 12 Minutes Max 2013 (SEA).

Created with support from Velocity Dance Center, The Bridge Project.

Mel + Britt

Percussionist/composer Melanie Voytovich, choreographer Britt Karhoff, visual designer Marijke Keyser and a group of Seattle performers come together for 3 weeks to test early stage ideas around how viewers can shape a performance, either intentionally or unintentionally. Audiences affect the performance through their movements inside the space and interactions with sound installations. Tested in the staircases, balcony and atrium of the Cornish Playhouse lobby.

30-45 minutes.

Supported by a 2016 Cornish Arts Incubator residency (SEA).
